The next instalment of the GT5 gamernight series is here. Each event sees more people getting involved and in this month’s series of races we see a returning event suggested from last month as well as a special race in ‘honour’ of someone who took part in the last event. I hope to see as many of you there as possible and for the gamernight to continue growing. This month we see a collection of races that will have you searching deep into your garages. Good luck and have fun.
RUF riders
For lovers of rear engine, rear wheel drive performance cars there is only one choice – Porsche. Since Porsche aren’t technically in this game we are left to race the next best thing. The high quality tuners RUF show off their wears and they beg to be thrashed so that’s what we will do. An all out blast around the race track in whatever RUF takes your fancy. Can you handle the power? If so, prove it!
The ‘Face Of The Internet’ Festival
In the overwhelming popularity of the one, the only, Jonfaec using his madness inspired VW Sambawagon in the last gamernight, I thought it would be highly fitting to use that as inspiration for a race this time. This will be race where speed and cornering will take a back seat to fun and frolics as we all ‘race’ around in our own VW Sambawagons. Bonus points for the best Jonfaec impression!
Go-Karting Gran Prix
Little engines but big fun. The 2 stroke whine of the motors revving on the start line and the apprehension of the drivers as they prepare for the insane action that only go-karting can produce. This was a race we ran last gamernight on the recommendation of a participant and as it was such a success we have decided to make it a regular part of the action. Tune those engines and prepare for battling for every little piece of track.
Big Bad Bumper Cars
All out war is the order of the day. In the words of Conner McCloud in the film Highlander, ‘There can be only one’. One winner that is. In this race there are no rules, it’s the first past the finish line in a huge battle of metal and tyres as you crash, bash, and sideswipe your way through the ranks. 10 laps of the Daytona raceway will decide who is the most violent and aggressive driver. Bring your roughest, toughest Ferrari or Lamborghini and let battle commence. (Performance point limit = 650)
Roadster Racers
The feel of the rushing wind in your hair as you drive around in your 2 seater roadster is epitomised in these two cars. Equally matched in power and performance yet from opposite ends of the world. The Mazda MX5 (including the Eunos and the Roadster) and the MGF (including the MG TF160) will go head to head to see which is king of the small topless market. (Performance points limit = 450)
Hillbilly Hi-jinx
If there is one thing that the classic Hillbilly loves more than his gun, it’s his pickup truck. This will be where we all let our inner hillbilly loose and show our love for the pickup. Gun racks in the back are not an accessory here but we can pretend. Race your Ford SVT F-150 Lightning, Dodge Ram Laramie Hemi Quad Cab or your Toyota Tacoma X-Runner and let’s see who makes the chequered flag.
Pathetic Performance
This will not be the fastest race of the night but could well be one of the most unique. The only requirement for this is that your Performance Point limit is 250. That’s it. Any car goes but it has to be less than 250 Performance points. Who will find the diamond in this rough end of the garage!
Hybrid Hippies
With all the horsepower and petrol burning going on wouldn’t it be nice to try something a little more energy saving. Can we have as close a race without burning fuel? Let’s find out. Bring your Nissan Leaf or your Toyota Prius or you Honda Insight and tack to the track for quite possibly the quietest race of the night.

Basic rules will apply ie, no race cars or unique cars, production models only unless otherwise stipulated. Some races will be BHP or PP restricted so check the description of the events. Prize cars will be given out for various race wins as well as other more unique reasons
Come along and take part, there are races for all competitors so if you consider yourself a world class racer or you cant find second gear still come along and have fun.
